Greenhouse Fire

Over the weekend, one of our greenhouses experienced a fire. The fire was not at our retail store which is the location that most of you are most familiar. This fire happened down the road at our Young Plant facility where we do our seed sowing and grow plugs and liners. Many of you may have heard about it in the news, and we want to share the details with you directly.

We are incredibly thankful that no one was inside the greenhouse at the time. A vigilant neighbor smelled burning plastic and quickly called 911, allowing firefighters to respond swiftly and minimize damage.

The fire started near or in one of our sowing machines, which is unfortunately a total loss. While the structure remains intact, we will need to replace the roofs, under-liner, shade cloth, humidity system, and lights in the affected area. Plant loss was minimal.

We are working with our suppliers to secure replacement parts and are optimistic about having everything operational in time for the spring starter plant season.

We are deeply grateful to our incredible team for their hard work and resilience in the aftermath. They’ve stepped up to clean, assess, and plan repairs while keeping everything else running smoothly.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to several local growers who have offered to lend us growing space and other resources. This generous support truly demonstrates the strength of our community, and we are so grateful for their kindness during this time.

Thank you as well to everyone in our community for your concern and encouragement. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us.
