Recycling

WENKE GREENHOUSES HAS RECYCLED MORE THAN 150 TONS OF PLASTIC SINCE 2010.

While flowers are beautiful, plastic waste is not. Many curbside recycling programs don’t accept plastics which includes some containers that hold plants and flowers. So, what to do with all those empty plastic plant containers?

Let us keep them out of the landfill for you!

Wenke Greenhouses partners with East Jordan Plastics to recycle the plastic pots that hold flowers, plants, bushes and trees. Every year, East Jordan Plastics recycles more than 15 million pounds of used plastic containers, equivalent to nearly 1,000 semi-truck loads of containers. That's a lot of plastic!

Customers can bring back their empty pots and drop them in our recycle bins that are located across the street in our overflow parking lot. It is important that the pots are returned without soil or plant material.

Bonus! We even accept pots from other garden centers. We also invite and encourage anyone to take and reuse any of the containers found in our recycle bins.

So, spread the word to all of your gardening friends!
